I am in awe of the talent Barbra has. I had forgotten how beautiful it was. She also is such an original. We forget that today. I think that she does too sometimes. I wish she had made more movies either as actor or director. I really enjoyed the beginning of the book. Man nobody describes food or holds a grudge like Barbra. I became a fan around A Star is Born so her early history was fascinating to me. Once we got to the concert tour era it became kind of repetitive. Also the politics. I share all her views so it’s not that it was just kind of boring. At the end of the book she does tie it all together in a powerful non-preaching way that even those who don’t share her views will find a the commonality that she feels. She is tough on her mother almost to the point I wanted to say “Alright we get it”. She has been searching for a father figure her whole life. I loved hearing how happy she is in her marriage. Some chapters seem to have been written just to get revenge and others just to blow her own horn. I listened to the audio version, it is the only way to do it. I finished the book and I love Barbra the artist but I am not so sure about Barbra the person.
