Much more solid and ambitious than “The “Quest”, this is an album that can grow on you quickly. The highlights are the frenetic but spot-on bass riffs by Billy Sherwood and the renewed energy level provided by drummer Jay Schellen. Steve Howe sounds great as well. Keyboards are not as prominent as one would find on a typical Yes album and Jon Davison’s voice, while accurate and poignant, lacks a lot of the edge that Jon Anderson provided. Nevertheless this is a much improved collection and hopefully the trend will continue. If nothing else, an average Yes album still trumps the best work that most modern artists can put out so it’s time well-spent to give this album a few turns.
