This may be a game from 2001, but this game is still the one I always go back to. I started playing this game in 2004 at 4 years old. Sadly, the disc ended up breaking. I got Brawl and Smash 4 when they came out and continued to have fun with Smash for years. But I never threw out my Melee disc and always wanted to play it again. In 2015 I finally got my hands on the game and dove right in to learning it's competitive mechanics. 5 years later and I'm still pretty shit, but I'm loving every second of it. Now, with modpacks and the Slippi Dolphin build, which gives the game the best online experience in the whole series, I see every reason to still give this game a try in 2020. It feels very clunky at first, but an avid Smash player should be able to play well within a couple of days. And once you start to get fluid with it's movement and techniques, you feel on top of the world. For some reason the insane movement that you can pull off triggers something in my ape brain to just keep going. If you want a fighting game that will challenge you, it doesn't get much harder than Melee. Tl;dr: this game is insane
