A true genre masterpiece, marred by the sadness of what might have been had this version of a DCEU been realised. Gone are the awful theatrical release’s jokes, which felt always as if they had been shoved in, kicking and screaming against their will. In their place we have dialogue and characters that actually feel like they have a reason to be there, fighting an enemy that has both a backstory and motivation. Enough subtle nods and references to keep every fan girl/boy happy without over doing things and pacing that never made the 4hrs feel stretched. Ahh Zack, just when I’d written you off for the space tentacles in Man of Steel and just about everything in BvS you go and redeem yourself.
