A masterpiece. Not a kink, not a flaw not a moment out of place. Deep questioning of pursuit of purpose amid some incredible action scenes, peerless dialogue and best acting you could wish for.

It captures the love for music that dawns around 16, how it overtakes you and creates your world. Mixes social issues and some funny wise cracks. Probably one moviesnobs will find lots of things to complain about in it but I enjoyed myself too much to care.

Awful for kids and adults alike. For a movie about a magic gate it has no imagination, is mean spirited and in places abusive (e.g. A female character is told 'you won't be able to shout your mouth like that once we're married) Astonishing it made it past any control boards or even productive scrutiny.

Lots of potential in the concept but they drop the ball in all kinds of ways. Making Harrison Ford look bad takes a lot of effort, and should actually get you barred from making films ever again. Blake Lively is wonderful to look at but can't act for toffee. Avoid.
