Regardless of all the criticism that's been said about this movie, I gave it four stars. I watched and enjoyed the movie for what it was, not what others perceive it as. It's the deeper meaning within the movie that drew my attention, not the dancing/twerking. Kids dance/twerk in public and on YouTube, and they will go uncriticized. The movie "Exorcist", a 12-year-old girl is portrayed to masturbating with a crucifix, and it has far less criticism than girls twerking in 'Cuties'.
However, I do agree with complaints that the camera had focused too much on the girls' bodies during the dance scenes. Those scenes were irrelevant and should've been edited out from the movie. I'd given the movie five stars if it weren't for them.
I thought it was well written, but could've been better directed, and the cast was terrific with their acting performances. The movie deserves some award, if not an Oscar.
