The best aspect of this movie is that it reflects Love for the mother land and its culture.
Honestly, it’s overdone. I love Latin music, and salsa dancing because It’s part of me. However, the casting and the acting are kind of weak, in my opinion. Maybe it looks good to other cultures because it may be new and it’s portrayed the way others think it most be. From an ‘insiders’ perspective it feels so forced and exaggerated. A lot less, quick stepping and loud music, would have felt more authentic.
Lin Manuel is obviously brilliant and has earned his place in Broadway, Im very proud of him. In the Heights feels like an amateurs’ musical. Perhaps because it was written early in his career.
