Very entertaining. Great acting by Jeff Bridges, Et .al, excellent screenplay and dialogue, great photography. Bridges plays a rough-hewn, alcoholic U.S. Marshall who turns out to be a decent fellow. An engrossing film by the Cohen brothers. i enjoyed every minute.

An exciting story about some fabulous people who risk their lives to help Jews escape from Vichy, France to the U.S. in 1941 -- including black from the French colonies who are finally given the recognition they deserve in this series. It seens that great painters and writers, gays, Jews, blacks and other free spirits share a common bond and world view that is truly inspiring.

A great foreign film that weaves a passionate tale in the heart of Morocco. The acting is extraordinary, especially that of Lubna Azabal as Mina. She plays the part of a graceful and courageous woman who is not "afraid to love" or to die. A very touching film that grows in intensity as it moves slowly and inevitably to a beautiful ending in a cafe by the sea. No one who sees this film with an open mind can fail to appreciate the almost mystical attraction of Arabic culture and the wonderful variety in the faces of its people.

Very beautiful and captivating. Love the scenes of Berlin after the war, the vast transportation network, tiny coffee stands, youth swaying to rock bands, the beautiful trapeze artist, and on and on. The lead actor, angel turned human, and the beautiful trapeze artist. Love at first sight, destiny. I love the boundless optimism of the director-storyteller. Upon becoming a real person, he roams the streets, finds beauty everywhere, trades the suit of armor for a timepiece, a hat, a rakish jacket, 200 marks. Peter Falk is great, a very down-to-earth, kind New Yorker who remembers when a stranger handed him 500 bucks, and wants to give money to the fallen angel. I'm going to watch this film again soon. It's very sweet.

The movie seems a bit dated but Bergman is very convincing in her role as a mother who has lost her son and chances to meet an impoverished family whose son she can save through her wealth. The director/screenwriter Roberto Rosellini is attempting to paint a picture of post-war Italy, an indictment of capitalism, the Catholic Church, and the bourgeois state -- all blind or indifferent to humanity. His criticism is valid even if the storyline and choreography are somewhat boring and trite. Despite these shortcomings, the movie is worth watching because Miss Bergman is such a great actress. She is always believable. Her suffering seems real. Her salvation through helping the poor is quite convincing. Her martyrdom is inevitable given the shallow world which she inhabits. Not much has changed since Europe '51 was made almost 75 years ago: the rich still exploit the poor; the Catholic Church is still a hollow, self-serving institution; the state exists to maintain the status quo.

This is a superb film about an aging French couple and their brave end of life journeys. The acting is superb and the story, although basically sad, has its happy moments, including the stories from his childhood that the husband tells his dying wife, their devotion to each other, and their determination to guard their privacy to the end. The film should inspire elderly partners to care for each other always, to remember how far they have come as a couple and all the precious times they have shared. Love is triumphant in this very honest portrait of two remarkable people.
