This is a tour de force. Bradley Coopers second film shows a confidence in his craft that is at times breathtaking. I'm a huge LB fan, but completely agree with the writers choice not to go behind the scenes on West Side Story or any other of his compositions. This film is about passion, pure and simple. For the music, for his wife and for his lovers. Carey Mulligan is astonishing and kudos that she gets top billing. Cooper is on record for saying that this does not get made without Netflix, which is great and also sad. Hollywood is slowly making itself irrelevant in the choice of movies that it makes. If the streamers carry on sanctioning well made, grown up movies, then it can only be great for them. Watch it and turn it up.....LOUD!!!
