Evidently this is much loved, but at this point (only a few shows in) there is no clear hero as a moral center for the show... It’s not yet clear how some sort of character arc can ensue, when it’s not at all clear who the central character is, or if it’s the Mother character, how she would even have some sort of growth. At least in Alien, after the top guy was killed Ripley stepped in as the de facto protagonist. TBD as we stay tuned...
