Um...
How can anyone NOT love this show?!
It's a relatable family with horses. Horses! The show involves realistic, real-life situations and how people deal with them. The consequences of their actions. It teaches not only kids, but people in general important life lessons and how to handle curveballs that come flying at your face, people that pee on your pancakes.
Mallory quote.
It's set in such a beautiful place, the rolling meadows and forest and incredible mountains of Alberta, Canada. The horse storylines can be a little bit cheesy, but what else is fair to expect? It's a show. Honestly, most of the horse storylines are actually really cool and interesting to follow, certainly grabs your attention. Amy is a role model to so many kids, a smart and kind and strong girl who took on such a mature place into her family's business and has such an admirable understanding and love for horses, just like a lot of people who watch this show. You get so into the characters, especially the relationships. Both these things, the individual characters and the relationships between them have such powerful development and evolution. You're so happy when these things hit a great milestone and you feel like you've taken an emotional punch to the stomach when they hit a great low because you can't help but become so invested in them. There's no doubt they do a great job portraying it!!
Heartland is definitely a wholesome family show produced in a safe environment with very nice people. You'll hear that a lot. It's completely appropriate for kids, besides a couple heavy themes here and there that needs adult guidance.
I can't even explain how incredible this show is. But I mean, anyone can say they have to be doing something right if they've successfully been thriving for this long. Twelve years! And somebody said in season one's trailer on YouTube (probably not even close to exact quote but the basic idea), "A storyline like that can't go very far at all. Don't know how they expect to be going for six seasons." Well, needless to say, they've sure surpassed expectations.
Please give it a chance. And watch past the first episode, the pilot, before making decisions. I can almost assure you you'll get into it, even if it's not your style and if not, you'll hear "You're missing out BIG TIME!!!" from us Heartland fans. Like, a lot.
