I did like how the film went into more detail about the Xsif and Bilosaludo aliens a bit more. But that's not the reason why we watch these movies. We watch these movies for Godzilla and he's in the film for maybe 5 minutes and doesn't do anything bold or amazing. MechaGodzilla was written straight out of a Rian Johnson playbook and subverted our expectations in the worst way possible. This was one of the weaker Godzilla films right there with Godzilla' Revenge (All Monsters Attack). Simply due to all the setup and no payoff.
