While the show differed quite a lot from the book, I enjoyed it. There were little details that were a bit ugh, but overal the show changed the story in an interesting way that I enjoyed. Often when producers try to differ from the books, it ends up being trash, but this show didn’t suck at all in my opinion. When we finally get a gay couple in the end, I don’t find that it sends a dangerous message when the couple ends in tragedy (me being a gay teen myself) I find that it makes gay and straight couples more equal as gay couples often, not always, have to work out or the show is considered homophobic, and how the two characters handled it was appropriate in my opinion
