This is a very complex and hard to read book at the start. But you have to have awareness and knowledge of the corrupt wicked politicians and officials in power in Sri Lanka who ruined the country and conducted terrible human rights abuses against The Youth, everyone was labelled JVP by President JR Jayawardene and Ranasinghe Premadasa. The abuse and genocide against the Tamils in 1983 instigated and supported by President JR Jayawardene and his police, army and cronies all in the name of being Good Sinhala Buddhists. I am no supporter of terrorism, LTTE or Tamil Tigers but these politicians committed heinous crimes through their support of the riots burning innocent Tamils, their pets and their homes. You have to understand the complex Sick hippocritical religious Buddhist pretence of this nation that contradicts all the philosophy and teachings of the Lord Buddha and true Buddhism. The murder of thousands of young Sinhalese under the pretext they were JVP Marxist Radicals, Tamils and many good people who tried to bring up Human Rights ...the ĶEY to this book is the murder of Richard De Soyza. A clever smart highly educated news reader, human rights activist and eloquent English speaking thespian and journalist who happened to be gay after being abducted under President Ranasinghe Premadasas instructions and was tortured and killed by the police . The routine nightly helicopter runs under this regime dumped the tortured murdered bodies of thousands of murdered Sri Lankans outside the reef. But on Richards occasion ( he and his mother were friends of our family and I went to many of his plays, speeches, watched him on the news and he came to our school often to teach Drama ) his tortured murdered body was drooped by mistake inside the reef.
