I read my side of the mountain when I was around 12 or 13 years old. As a troubled young teen living in care as a state ward, the world was a hard place to live & I certainly escaped it within this fantastic read. Possibly one of 2 books in my life that I could not put down, reading into the wee hours of the morning with a little lamp on my bed living a fantastical story within the pages as I read on & on. I am now 58 years old & to this day I remember that time of escape while reading. I highly recommend the read for young teens with a view of trying to emerse themselves deeply into the story with the feeling of living within the storyline. I actively recommend this book & as a school bus driver have recommended My side of the mountain to kids on my bus & to teachers on many occasions.
