Strange meandering memoir about relationships with women in green some alive some dead. Just go with the flow. It starts with the river and ends with the river.

Too many stories in one short book. One story is printed in italics in the hope we don’t get too confused. Hulda is not a sympathetic character. This is number one in a trilogy and Hulda is dead at the end of this book. Interesting idea to kill off the main protagonist in book one. Who gives Ragnar the right to speak for women in the workplace? Maybe he is trying to appeal to the female readership?

Listening to the audiobook. The American reader has a grating voice. She mispronounces words and it does not help that the character she is reading is vacuous. I have very little sympathy for the character.

Very clever. So many visual and other references to the American relationship to the French.

Like a prose poem. Beautiful language. Inter generational trauma and love.
