enjoyed the show completely having a rerun which started with life on mars which i also enjoyed. just finnished the third series with alex drake, gene hunt and co, the 3rd series was much darker has we get close to finding out what happened to sam tyler and who is gene hunt, i thought kelley hawes was fine in the role of alex drake it seems some people could get the alex drake thing, after john simm dropped out of the series feeling he could not do anything else with sam tyler, which was disapointing, it seemed a third series of life on mars was in the pipeline, sadly it didnt happened john, did state later had he known they were locating to london to shoot ashes, he would tried work something out also missing liz shaw, annie cartwright, much admit liz was also missing, it seems liz wasn,t asked to do ashes, real shame maybe down to john simm not doing it, however has the ashes went along chris and ray were still there also shaz, who has the series went along got a more bigger role, final points ashes was enjoyable pity john and liz didnt appear. still overall a great series along with life on mars up there with the best.

this a truly awesome show and how it has not made it to a proper dvd is beyond me each espiode found people in strange situations a differnt storey each espiode, the open titles throwed right into your face strong espiodes someone in a crowd,poor butterfly, eve, the list is endless anyone loving hammer house etc this series is for you. cult series well worth a rerun, talking pictures or something, not to be missed.

truly great show john simm and the gang were toally excallent just finnished a rerun of series 1 and 2 again enjoyed it again moving on to ashes to ashes now following mr hunt and co, great tv.
