Can't recommend. The movie is bait for young people that, for whatever the reason might be, respond positively to queer-coded and autism-spectrum-coded characters and the general vibe of "not fitting in".
What this film provides is interesting visuals peppered with more bait for people with an affinity for the phrase "I was born in the wrong time", replete with bygone 90s accoutrement, and the growingly clichéd imagery ever-popularly ripped from Méliès' "A Trip to the Moon", seemingly only there to appeal to a type.
This movie is an appeal to the emotional inner-workings of its viewer - but as a crutch. Two crutches. Hell, a whole wheelchair. The movie is incomplete. It is a Mad-Libs that completely requires of its viewer to fill in the gaps.
It's a film for people that love coming up with theories and have no interest in their resolution. That's what this movie is. A theory, with no answers.
It is about nothing. It is for you to decide what is happening because nothing really is.
"It's about the struggles of being trans", a trans person will say. "It's about being stuck inside yourself from depression", a depressed person will say. "It's about mental illness and how all of these kids these days are crazy", a conservative traditionalist will say.
This movie is (without your help) for no one and says nothing. It is an appeal to emotion and a cash-grab using current socially significant cues.
