Positives:
- The fast paced driving action on the track constantly kept everyone engaged and thrilled with the authentic force and thrills of driving
- The dynamic between especially Jack and Jann carried a lot of the emotional beats of the film with authentic moments that carried heavy emotional beats with extreme highs and extreme lows that worked surprisingly well
- The wild effects and cinematography of the film manged to reflect the fast paced speed of driving on the track
- Many performances by actors genuinely made them either unlikable or sympathetic in a genuine way
Negatives:
- The pacing towards the middle of the film felt slightly confused, however it was manageable ti keep track of
- Some points of the cinematography felt confusing or strange and heavily juxtaposed the other, much more exciting camera work in other placs (when the camera randomly stops to give information to the reader brings the action to a halt, however thankfully isn't a frequent occurrence)
- The bending of Jann's story felt slightly cheap in favour of his hero's story, however the impact of the major accident in the film is arguably never lost, just strangely changes in a way that may confuse some watchers; from the cost of the life that was lost on the day of the accident, which is effectively portrayed in the scenes after the accident, but them seems to shift to Jann's fear of being in another crash that threatens his performance in the race, no longer about the life that may be lost. The emotional impact works to begin with, but is thrown away for another slightly less but still impactful scene at the 24 hour race in France. Both scenes work, just not together under the immediate context of the film and the real life story.
