I'm giving it 2.5 stars as a generic fantasy show, 1 as a Middle Earth show. As everyone else can easily see - the CGI, sets, visuals are great; the musical score is basic but decent enough. Still would prefer H. S. (the theme song is on point and I always feel sad at the end because I know it's back to generic fantasy scores in the show).
Characters - I enjoy Durin and Elrond, the characters and their arc. But that's about it. Chesty (Bronwyn) is the only villager with her chest out all the time, for no reason at all other then to make sure she shows the most skin? This was an purposeful costume design choice...and that's what they chose. The other characters and story lines are... watchable background noise to turn on while doing housework.
Film - The show looks like they finished primary shooting but failed to follow up with pick ups. There are scenes that are jarring when introduced because they skip so much it doesn't make sense.
Writing - Super cliche, nigh on copy/pasting LotR scenes and dialogues everywhere. Conversational lines are stale, but to some of the actors' credit they make it work. Others are less talented.
Even still, if that's all there was to it, I'd give it a 3.5. But Galadriel - my word girl. Most people have said it, but I'll say it again. She has no redeemable qualities. Selfish, entitled, narcissistic, and just plain socially inept. She's the central figure and there's nothing to like about her.
For serious drama, it's never fun for an unlikable character to win all the time. Glorifying a narcissist by vindicating their beliefs is an awful feeling as an audience to sit through.
Let's be real - if I met someone with her disposition in real life, this high conflict individual, I'd call her a Karen and be on my way. Absolutely horrible character that has not earned her strength and has yet to show character growth. You can forget about admiration. I find myself rooting for her downfall every episode.
The only thing that makes sense to me with her acting the way she does... is she's a villain. In fact, she's THE villain. She's Sauron and the real Galadriel is locked away somewhere. We can only hope...
