Have to agree with the negative reviews. I actually looked up reviews because I thought, "Am I really off base here with how bad this is becoming?" I was glad to see that, no, many viewers feel the same way.
I came into this series with high hopes, but after only 5 or 6 episodes, I am very disappointed and realize I just can't take watching it anymore. So many things just don't make sense. The characters' behaviors, the slow reactions of the world to monumental devastation going on for days (seemingly locked into thinking it must be terrorists!?), so many plot dead ends, so things that are never explained, evidently in an attempt to creep us out? (Didn't work, just left me feeling dissatisfied.)
And sooooo many close-ups, held for waaaaaay too long, on actors' faces when they are evidently looking at something really, really scary....? They used this trope inappropriately; most of the time you either never really see what they're looking at, or it ends up being not very exciting. I found myself almost yelling at the screen, "Show me what he's looking at already!!!" As other have said, I find no characters that I can identify with or even care much about.
And nothing really happens! They keep trying to develop all kinds of suspense, but they just keep turning into teases. It reminds me of when I was a kid, sick in bed, and the Dark Shadows series started up. For those of you not old enough to remember, this was basically a TV series/soap opera about a vampire. I thought this would be interesting and exciting, and so I started watching it. Episode after episode. All kinds of hints, but never any vampire! I think I completed the first two seasons, and the vampire never appeared. That was all I could take, and didn't stick with it.
Well, Invasion brought back vivid memories of Dark Shadows. Just teasing, pulling you along, but never any satisfaction.
Poorly written. And so much potential. Very disappointing.
