My wife picked up on this in the credits. Watching the movie, we know that Grace left her father, Arthur (with possibly her mother), with the assistance of her Uncle Joe, but it is not explained why. Did you note that Rose looked like Grace’s childhood picture? The credits listed both Grace and the mother of Rose as the same person. In other words, Arthur would be Rose’s grandfather. If this is true, Arthur’s forgiveness issue could have been his difficulty having a unwed pregnant teen daughter. This doesn’t really come out in the movie, but seems to be hinted in it! It would explain Arthur’s coldness and possibly why he ran an orphanage if he knew his daughter gave up her child? Anyone else pick up on this possible scenario?
