John Wyndom wrote many books that still stay in my mind. The Kraken Wakes has as it's basis the melting of ice caps. Global warming is not the reason but the consequences are very similar, very thought provoking. An important read for our time.
Check out "The Day of the Triffids". It had me contemplating for many weeks; not only about his concept of "end times" but the human reaction and need to fight for life.
