I listened to The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo & read Daisy Jones & The Six. Both were interesting & easy to move through because I felt as if I was getting a behind the scenes glimpse of another time and place (Old Hollywood with Evelyn; Rock n Roll in the 70s with Daisy). Also, the narration of The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo was excellent.
That said, the author’s liberal undertones throughout the book (and occasional overt comments) were mostly tolerable because it helped create a good story and characters. That is and until, the author pushed suicide as dignified death into the story & onto the reader, which I found sickening & a pathetic end to the book.
