The Ministry of the Utmost Happiness is a beautifully crafted story by Arundhati Roy. The story is the amalgamation of struggle, love, hatred, resistance, and suffering. Roy has projected a realistic picture of Delhi India over the past 30 years. the story is messy and captivating from the start. It begins with the story of a marginalized member of society who labors to uncover herself. Anjum the protagonist found herself in toil To find her identity. when she decides to leave home and settle in Khawabgah, she confronts many plights. she confronts the brutal side of society and religion in her visit to Gujarat she was Muslim born and, lost her friend in the conflict in Delhi between Hindus and Muslims. On successful return, she becomes a psychopath trying to change the personality of Zanib ( a child she found on the stairs of JamJamasjid and decides to bring her from female to male. On the denial of her sensation, she departed from Khawabgah and built his residence in a graveyard. The graveyard then into a house named as Jannat guest house. Another major character Tilo, is a resilient character who struggles hard in the Kashmir conflict. She is an architecture student who is in love with Musa but Musa get married to another woman and was having a child. Kashmir War conflict Musa's wife and daughter lost their life and Musa went underground and became part of many tehreek's. Tilo married Naga who was a journalist and visited Kashmir, During their visit they came across several realities that have been portrayed falsely by the media. Tilo then finds herself a helping hand from Musa. She left Naga and settled into the Jannat house taking care of her small girl named Miss Jabeen. Musa also joins Tilo in Jannat's house but he was having another determination so he leaves Jannat guest. In The last chapters both Anjum and Tilo came together and struggles hard to make Jannat's guest house and approachable place for unheard segment of society. the story of this novel is a story of compassion, struggle and to find the happiness ,utmost happiness that is the ministry of every single character and every single life in the society.
