I've played a lot of Assassin's Creed Games with varying degrees of satisfaction. Most recently I played Odyssey and really got into it. I loved the ancient Greek setting in the bright and beautiful Mediterranean. The detail and resolution were great. The story and characters with a sense of humor were great as well.
So I had high hopes for Valhalla on my PS5 but have been disappointed. The game is dark overall, the scenery uninteresting. The resolution is poor for the most part especially the characters faces which are flat and lack detail and the way their lips move as they are talking. Sometimes their lips don't move at all when they're are supposed to. The missions aren't very interesting either. You raid a monastery then a bigger monastery, then a smaller monastery, too redundant. You can't easily compare any new gear you get with your current gear to see which is better. Supplies for your settlement aren't on your inventory screen. The game is also slow, not because of the console, which is great, but it just doesn't flow well. The map sucks. With over two years to get it right Ubisoft disappointed on this one and apparently they have no patches or updates upcoming to address any of it.
