I think the majority of these negative reviews are coming from those who view the world through rose colored glasses. All they see is a story that is “sick”, “twisted”, or written by a psycho. This movie is designed to disturb the viewer. It’s meant to be shocking. It’s a wake-up call about the horrid things that happen in real life, to real people. It highlights the disturbing truth of young girls being sexually abused from a young age by older men in power. This movie accurately portrays the dark underbelly of the Internet and the naivety of our youth, and the need for young girls to feel loved, wanted, and special. This movie, sadly, depicts a horrific story that is closer to fact rather than fiction. That said, this movie is not for the faint of heart. It is visceral. It is meant to leave you replaying the horror of it over and over in your head. Films like these are hard to watch because it is true fiction brought front and center. It feels real. It makes one come to realize the true horrors that are alive and kicking in this messed up world we live in.

One of the most entertaining movies I’ve seen in a long time. Slow burning at times, ridiculously corny in others, this was one hell of an entertaining movie!!

Single handedly THE most disturbing AND subsequently stupid “thriller” I have yet to watch. I even watched Midsommar twice, and that was disturbing as F. This was initially too disturbing for words, even more so than Midsommar (and I’m no snowflake), but the ending was super lame. I mean… really? Starring Matt Dillon and Uma Thurman? (Who was unrecognizable, BTW, and only played a bit role). Only reason for two stars vs one was the initial story was good, albeit exceptionally disturbing. Should come with a trigger warning notice, as it is tough to stomach (if a prior victim of assault/abuse). But the main character did reference art and music that makes you think. The Doors wrote Alabama Song which has a line that comes up, as well as many other artists’ interpretations. It has some crazy undertones that only musicians and some artists will get. But it is still a very disturbing and then lame movie. Warning: contains images of a dead child posed, as well as dead women.
