If I didn't especially love the first nun movie i probably would have rated this 5 or if 5. It is a solid horror worth a trip to the theater. However this sequel did not capture the somber quiet horror of the first one. The first one the horror was in the subtle Crack of a bone, the knowledge that none of the nuns Irene was interacting with actually there. Like the more modern bright horror that really stands out. This sequel is more traditional horror - loud, dark and relies heavily on the typical jump scares.
Go see it just go knowing it's more like conjuring than it is the nun.
Edit: I got to add that credit needs to be given for the magazine scene. I've never seen anything like that before and it was a real stand out moment of horror of this entire movie. It was quiet yet entirely foreboding and truly tension building. Exactly what I wanted this movie to have more of. This is a movie to see just for the genius of that scene.
