The Fault in Our Stars is a fabulous book about a young teenage girl who has been diagnosed with lung cancer and who attends a cancer support group.
Hazel grace Lancaster, the main character is 16 and she is quite reluctant to go to the support group, but she soon realizes that it was a good idea. Hazel meets a young boy named Augustus Waters. He is portrayed as a very charming and witty personality. Augustus has had osteosarcoma, a rare form of bone cancer, where his lower part of one leg is removed and is replaced with a steel rod so that he can walk. Hazel and Augustus embark on a roller coaster ride of emotions, including love, sadness and romance. They travel to Amsterdam while searching for the author of their favorite book. The author of the book is peter van hauten and the book is called as an imperial affliction. While on their trip Augustus breaks some heartbreaking news to Hazel and both of their worlds fall apart around them.
This book actually feels like an experience which takes us and showcases us about the life of cancerous patients and how their parents and family feel about them .This book is an emotional rollercoaster and it makes us cry about how she has to struggle about her cancer. John green was able to put what people feel (when they're sad, scared, or sometimes just so hurt, whether it's physically or emotionally) into words
Their love story is showcased really beautifully as agustus falls in love with hazel.
The best thing about John Green’s writings is that he keeps his point in a very subtle but in a substantial way. They make a point strong enough to leave an impact. In this book he has explained the very meaning of life in a simple way. So I think John Green’s writing is very realistic rather than being surrealistic, he is able to find magic in the most ordinary simple things.
The only thing I kind of disliked about this book is that they don’t have a happily ever after and her boyfriend Augustus dies and she is left completely broken This book always gets me and makes me emotional. I would have enjoyed the book more if it had an happy ending where both hazel and Augustus live happily ever after... the author john green has done a great job of portraying hazels life so mesmerizingly that sometimes I wish to read this book first time again and experience the emotional rollercoaster again for the first time.
I really recommend reading this book.
