I enjoyed this book from start to finish. Danger: Falling Rocks is the first in a series of mysteries set in the Sierra Nevada by Paul Wagner, who combines his love of the mountains with a more tempered view of the way human beings interact with nature and with one another. Ranger Dan Courtwright and Sheriff Cal Healey share an easy camaraderie that belies their skill in sorting out the mystery of a falling rock, but the best part of the story is the wonderfully evocative portrayal of the mountain experience. I can't imagine anyone who reads this book ever taking a snack into their tent again! Looking forward to the rest of the series!
