Just watched the movie โEmergencyโ and I wanted to share my honest review here.
It turned into a comedy rather than the serious historical drama it aimed to be.
The film fell short of my expectations and failed to deliver the depth and impact it aimed for. The storytelling lacked flow, and the portrayal of Indira Gandhi by Kangana Ranaut came across as unconvincing or overly dramatized, it definitely undermined the gravity of such a significant historical period. Poor editing, weak dialogue, and wasted talent are particularly disappointing when the subject matter has so much potential for a gripping narrative.
The movie might have not done justice to the complex character of Indira Gandhi or the turbulent era it sought to depict. The lack of cohesion between script, direction, and performances can make even serious films unintentionally comedic. Hopefully, future films on similar topics will better capture the essence and complexity of such historical figures.
