Massive fan of the OG anime and manga, grew up watching it on the first run on Toonami(or was it Adult Swim?) with the delightful JYB dub in the early 2000s. To this day it's the only anime I HAVE to watch dubbed, JYB IS Vash imo. I was skeptical when I saw this coming out but gave it a chance and I was pleasantly surprised. I think if all the people who are hating on it without seeing it kept an open mind, they would be just as pleasantly surprised. It's not bad, it's a retelling of the original and obviously not trying to be the original. The retelling stands on its own feet, but it also feels like the stunning visuals and high production value cast a shadow on the overall story and made it feel slightly rushed, not totally complete. Even so, I very much enjoyed it, even if there a couple nitpicky elements I would have liked to see done different (like the gun going from .45LC to .22LR). Either way, give it a shot. You might not like it as much as the original, you might find you like it more, just don't discard without giving it an earnest attempt or you're only hurting yourself. Also keep in mind this is from watching it on Hulu so not even having seen the JYB dub yet.

Love it so far (only first episode out - 2 parts) but I honestly find the little girl to be about on par with episode 1 Anakin (at least in part 2)
