I must admit, I'm not very keen on the Dragon Quest series to be honest-but Dragon Quest 11 changed my tune. I immediately found myself hooked after the first couple of hours and kept craving more. The graphics, the story-There's so many treats for the eyes and ears from start to finish.
The story tells the tale of the Luminary, a boy from an ordinary village who's supposedly the reincarnated hero of legend and destined to save the world of Erdrea from a great evil. Sadly, although the rest of the world-especially#Spoiler# Arboria-hold the Luminary in the highest regard, the kingdom of Heliodor instead have branded him the 'Darkspawn',a harbinger of calamity and hunt him down like an animal, intent on doing away with him.
The music,I must admit, was a bit of a mixed bag-Some tunes I abhorred but others I loved and the battle theme I'm afraid got on my nerves after a while-but others, like the tune of Serena's harp, are gorgeous. The characters are also a bit of an oddball group-From the kind-hearted thief Erik to the fiery mage Veronica. There were even a few laugh out loud moments in the game for me-Rab's magazine falling out of his pocket.Ha-ha!-but all in all,a lovely story with a few twists I didn't expect.
If this is your very first Dragon Quest, give it a go-You'll love it. I certainly did!
