I think A Real Pain, was a terrible movie for a few key reasons. First off, the tone was way off.
The movie tries to mix humor with the serious subject of Holocaust tourism, and it just comes across as insensitive. (I'm not even Jewish either so it's non bias)
It felt like they were trivializing something that should have been handled with a lot more care.
On top of that, the characters felt really shallow. There wasnโt enough depth to make me care about their journeys or understand their emotional struggles.
It was like they were just going through the motions without any real development or attachment to them as a character.
Then thereโs the lack of originality.
The movie didnโt bring anything new to the table. It was just rehashing ideas weโve seen before without offering a fresh take or deeper insight, which made it feel pretty stale.
The narrative structure was also a mess.
The pacing was uneven, and the scenes didnโt flow well, making the whole thing feel disjointed.
It was hard to stay engaged when the story didnโt seem to know where it was going.
Combine all of what I've said with an awful pointless ending, it's not worth the watch.
Critics might be influenced by the importance of the subject matter (the Holocaust), leading to far higher reviews and awards, rather than considering the actual movie.
