Lots of negative reviews, but I personally found this movie riveting. The plotline jumps from thing to thing-- displaying the chaotic-ness of real life and the trouble with facing her past that the MC has. It takes a certain type of person to enjoy the back-and-forth, different pacing I Used To Be Funny has. As an actual SA survivor, TW for that, I can tell you that the way everybody deals with things is different. Sam's is no different. This movie is controversial because it displays the 'other' side of survivors. It breaks with comedy, then comes in with a swoop of tragedy and sends you for a reeling emotional rollercoaster. One thing that definitely could be changed is the usage of songs; it feels a little too blunt when they come in, but that is my only grievance. So, about this review, if you're not a person who likes creative, 'pay-attention-to-detail' story writing, I suggest you do not watch this movie. If you are? Go ahead. Solid 8/10.
