This game is absolutely fantastic! It exceeds the first entry and runs laps around it. Iโd go as far as to say its much better than Smash Bros Ultimate. The movesets of each character are well thought out, and the meter burn (slime burn) system allows for alot of combo variation and/or approaching opponent options. For me, the core gameplay is what makes platform fighting games so engaging. Thatโs why till this day super smash bros Melee has been my absolute favorite platform fighting game. If you like Smash Melee, then this game is absolutely for you. To me, this game is the true successor to Smash Melee, and even expands on what made Melee so great. The base game has decent online gameplay. I usually find a match in less than a minute. Occasionally there are online hiccups, but with patches to fix overall stability which will arrive -along with balance patches and more DLC characters, this game will go from amazing in its base state to phenomenal. The reason why this game slaps Smash Ultimate out of town, and even embarrasses Smash Ultimate is because there were far fewer developers working on Nick All Star Brawl 2 with far fewer monetary resources - yet their gameโs core gameplay mechanics and online gameplay are a much more balanced and smoother experience than Ultimates. Additionally, because the game is fully cross-play, the player base will only grow as more people come to see just how insane Nick All Star Brawl 2 plays. The second biggest reason Nickelodeon all Star Brawl 2 is far more engaging/intense/hype than ultimate is because the characters in Smash Ultimate have had like 85% of the same movesets since Smash Bros Brawl. Things got stale pretty quickly for those who played the previous smash games. People seem to worship Sakurai, the main developer of Smash bros, and think only he can make a well made platform fighting game. But honestly, from a gameplay perspective Smash Ultimate was poorly balanced party game rather than a proper platform fighter because Sakurai did not intend or care for Smash Ultimate to be a competitive gaming experience; therefore he did not properly balance the cheesy, lame, spammy, โbraindeadโ characters with lame strategies that people very often played like over and over again. Embarassingly, the competitive scene frequently devolved into a degenerate Minecraft Steve mirror match. Sakurai barely made any meaningful nerfs or buffs in the 4-5 years that the game received updates. 4-5 months would pass before a โbalanceโ patch would drop in Ultimate. Each new patch barely addressed character flaws or advanced the game in any meaningful way. Additionally the online gameplay was never fixed since it came out in 2018. Now switch to Nick All Star Brawl 2, and almost every character has an interesting moveset, great animations, on-point voice acting, and a great single player rogue-like campaign thatโs far better than Smash Bros Brawlโs subspace emissary single player. The online gameplay overall is a very smooth experience, and its cool playing against people on different platforms. I have Nick All Star Brawl 2 on PS5 and so far its a better/ smoother experience than on Nintendo Switch so far. If you like Smash Bros and platform fighters, you absolutely must go out and buy this game. You will not be disappointed. The only thing that will happen is that hours will pass by without you realizing it.
