who say animated movies is only for kids stuff, it can be used for mature story telling too, even thou this time its subtle. bittersweet is the right word, its tackle the theme of marriage magnificently through simple and short lens. the quality speak for itself, the animation is charming enough for the kids and the story have uniquness to just keep you watching till the end. you can feel the timeless stop motion charm with that creepy gloomy vibe. im kinda expecting jack skelington to show up somewhere
For tim burton first animated rodeo he made high horse that smoothly ran through the living and the dead, and oh its have beautiful voice too.
i usually cringe when watching musical but this movie manage to blend it very well. im telling you it wont be intrusive, it even manage to transform what could be tedius exposition of a premise into a short captivating sing along. man i wish this movie is longer. there is no problem in the pacing and the story literaly happen in one night. i just like the character and the premise. if this a netflix series the season 1 probably gonna end when the villian made his move on the other heroine. still its better to be short and sweet watch that leave you wanting more, even thou im kinda wishing victor gonna choose the best girl in the end. Ah well, i guess the conclusion leave more impression that way.
So why you gotta watch this movie? if you wish to explore some old animated movie or feeling a gloomy mood but forced to watch something with the kids this movie got you covered (just tell the boys to stay away from the cemetery humanoid looking branch, we dont want to find kids putting ring on anything freaky near the dead resting place right?).
4/5 star from me, real recomended to check this one out for the story and animation
