1 star is only for the beautiful shots of the landscapes. Everything else is rubbish. For the characters that embodied the traditional male archetype, the movie was desperate to either have them fade into the background or kill them outright. All to push a philosophical viewpoint in a very hamfisted way. I now wish I hadn't had high expectations from the duo of Danny Boyle and Alex Garland, because I never thought that they as well had forgotten how to tell stories. I already knew that this was the first movie of a trilogy, but at the very least try to treat the story of your first chapter a little better. For any fans of 28 Days Later, do not watch this or any other movie that follows it. If you're able to accept that movie as a singular story, you will be a lot happier.
