Utterly terrible film which was a bore to watch. If even a film great like Kamal Haasan couldn't save this sinking ship, no one else can.
The film starts with a bunch of Youtubers raising awareness about public issues. AI was used and the use was actually good. The beginning was fast-moving and captivating.
There was a needless cabaret act and a song (Anirudh had a lot of good songs here) followed by Amit Groups killing.
Then, when Indian thatha comes in the scene (with very bad makeup), he says that it is a two track mission and to fight the '2nd independence war' against corruption.
Till a point (until Chitra's mother's death) the film was watchable, except for inaccuracies (Kamal speaking in Tamil with Gujaratis and Punjabis). But after Chitra's personal tragedy, the film goes downhill.
They all suddenly clamour 'Go back'. What does director Shankar want to say here? Is he saying that India does not want to change? That India wants to stay corrupt? The film gets confusing and boring from that point. Siddharth's role's meaning is lost in the process. After that it becomes a typical macho film which culminates in the police catching Indian thatha and a trailer for a sequel.
SJ Suryah - the villain - looks like a joker more than a villain.
The positives were - good background score, great stunts, and good photoshoots. Anirudh's songs were plenty - and they were good, but were not utilised to the fullest extent.
Negative - everything else.
I don't know how Shankar plans to set right Indian 3.
