Incredible, haunting, and wonderful.
I knew (and still know) very little about the violence and genocide that has occurred (and is ongoing) in central and south America. I learned more through this book's overview of Guatemala and Argentine history then I did in any of my primary education. It was continuously humbling and eye-opening as Hagerty detailed her experiences working in the mass graves. I can't recommend this book enough. Even with so little background knowledge and no involvement with the field of anthropology "Still Life" has left a lasting impression upon me.
