I personally found the fight sequences -which made up almost the entirety of the movie- to be lacking in any dynamic action and more just one super human main character mindlessly -with shaking fists- shooting or bludgeoning grunt after grunt. And I say that as a general fan of action packed, high paced and explosion filled movies.
I thought the pacing with a little slow and the storyline was lackluster, and since the runtime was so long the monotonous sound of gunshots and grunting bordered on mind numbing versus engaging and thrilling. The various settings in which the surplus of fights scenes occurred were -in my opinion- awkward and only succeeded in distracting me from the action by watching the extras in the background strangely dance or seem to not know what they were meant to be doing.
I enjoyed the last three movies as a franchaise -I've watched them multiple times- and was very much looking forward to this fourth installment. All in all, I am disappointed that this turned out to be a 'fine' movie when I expected more.
