To any reader who isn't Indian/Hindu, Hanuman won't even crack into top 10 characters of Ramayana as per Amish's version.
He has downplayed Ram's victory and it feels like everything happened because of vishwamitra and vashishtha. Ram, sita and raavan have been all been used as puppets by vishwamitra in his version. It became so irritating that he still hasn't revealed the reason of dispute between the two gurus even after so much build up. The relationship of Hanuman and Ram hasn't been explored or even tried to show any love between the two at all. He didn't make it clear finally why Ram was the one recognised as the 7th Vishnu. Bharat and Shatrughan joining in with 100k ayodhyan soldiers ??!! Where was Bharat Milaap ? Bharat killing Indrajit ? He has done whatever. The way he has written the book, there seems to be no point or weight in greatness of Ram. Why were people in meluha trilogy saying Jai shree Ram all the time and so many temples were built of him if all he did was win a battle that his opponent was only fighting as a formality. Amish made the story arc appear as if Ram couldn't have beaten Raavan if Raavan wanted to win or was in his prime. Odds have been shown greatly in Ram's favour, no excitement for the reader, I couldn't even understand what I was reading for ? Very hard to finish the book whereas I finished previous 6 books in less than 2 weeks. Disappointed with the author. This is my very first book review as it agitated me so much that I had to get it out. Beautifully written first three parts that build so much fresh views and arcs. Arc of how ram and not sita will be recognised as the seventh Vishnu. The truth behind vashishtha and vishwamitra. How Ram will beat undefeated Raavan. Hanuman ji is just shown as some vayuputra guy that's all. Auther missed a very golden opportunity to deliver what could have been a mind bending finale to the series.
