I personally felt super disappointed with the second movie. TRIGGERS—— I felt that the rape scene was too much and could have done without. After watching two hours of Arthur Fleck getting constantly beaten by the guards, I felt there was no need to then also compound it with a rape scene at the end. I felt that the first movie did a great job really showing the backstory of his life and all of the trauma he went through, and then his new found personality at the end. However, I felt this movie then turns around and just crushes it. Musical Numbers—- As someone who has a Masters degree in Music… I personally felt it was too much. I felt it really pulled away from a lot of the drama that was going on and focused more on Lady Gaga. Love her, but not for this movie. I was really hoping this moving was going to build off Arthur’s personality and I was so sad that it didn’t. However, I do want to give credit to Joaquin Phoenix for his incredible performance. I also want to say that the costume designer did an incredible job as well, along with numerous artistic shots.
