Having grown up in Cardiff where this mini-series is set, it's more like a fly-on-the-wall documentary of a convoluted family life too near the truth. There are laugh out loud moments (nan's knee pain!), the sadness of a teenager growing up in a dysfunctional home and the tenderness of a daughter's love for her bipolar, and some times resentful, mother. If you are easily offended by the language used, it's nothing other than a pretty mild version of reality. A shout out for the screenplay....brilliant. The characters are all too real and thoroughly believable. There is certainly an opportunity for a 3 years later follow-up series.
