A modern take of a timeless classic. Keeping in mind that it was a limited series, I feel production was able to focus on the parts of the book that were most relevant to the very long Stephen King novel. The actor that portrayed Harold was definitely the best choice for the role for what he added to the series. The movie (not the series) was long and tedious at times so I’m glad they made sure the important part key elements to the book were included in the series. I loved every minute of each episode and once the credits rolled, it kept me wanting more. To add, the actor that portrayed Randal Flagg brought excitement to his role and some comic relief as well, which was lacking in the movie version. I also need to reference the “Circle closes” (episode 9) as being a welcomed addition that wasn’t included in the book or TV movie. Thank you Stephen King for writing this episode. I longed for on opportunity for Fran to make her stand both in the book and television movie that aired years ago. She needed to take her stand and that was left out of the book/TV adaptation. Thanks Stephen King for allowing life long fans the opportunity to get what, (at least I) was missing. I do hope production and any involved with the 2020 remake, consider giving us something to look forward to with the resurrection of Randal Flagg (who is now Russel Faraday) on a native island featured in the last episode, giving us an opportunity to see “Russel Faraday” recovering from his massive defeat in episode 8. There is so much more that can make this series evolve into Flagg and his attempt at regaining the power he lost after the 4 chosen made their stand against him. I’ll end this with how absolutely perfect the role of “Trashcan man” was as portrayed by the talented actor in that role. (I can’t remember the actors name. He was most like the man I envisioned while reading the novel. I definitely give this 5 stars and recommend watching for any fan of SK works. Remember, while watching, this was a CBS remake and as with some RV series, there are a few things that I had to scratch my head over but for what it was, I was impressed and hope a continuation of the story emerges in time. 5 stars for condensing the very long book and TV adaptation that aired in the 80s, into a captivating series that had us glued each and every week!
