My main goal of this movie's already well known story, was to see Johnny Depp speak french.. it wasn't enough... Johnny was miscast, and showed little life and passion in this role.. straight faced, monotone and utterly boring. I longed for just a glimmer of his talented creativity to add some spark to the lifeless encounters with Weimann-- who looks like a female version of rocker Steven Tyler..she favors him enough to be relatives...not convincing as a social climbing beauty and not convincing as a seductress.. .... Not a great movie.
