i never leave reviews but I have to because I just read these reviews and realized they are from young people who felt forced to read something that they have probably never been exposed to, truth about the country they live in, it will take a long time for those that are the privileged and not the oppressed to understand and accept this is the true reality, not to say there aren't those who are not Indigenous and can appreciate this and learn something.
This book is my favorite book that I've read in the last 5 years at least, it took me a summer to read it bc I needed to process everything a bit at a time, it was so worth the read and left such an impact. I was once a youth who rejected everything myself, but I was rejecting the colonial bs this country was spewing in every way, shape and form and still does. Thank creator there is finally a shift happening, and hopefully those young (and older) people can realize they do no need to feel guilt for their ancestors actions, they can be apart of a better society as we move forward, this book is beautiful, but to each their own.
