Playing on PS5 right now: while I wouldn’t normally wait to finish a game to provide a review, and while I also disagree with review bombing in principle, this game is an example of outrageous pricing for a half-baked product. Based on what I’ve read so far PS5 performance is mostly ok in comparison to PC: however, I am going to list the issues I have in the first 10 hours of play on PS5:
* Crash during opening scene first time I played.
* Despite having a VRR compatible TV, lots of tearing.
* Animations are sometimes outright wrong: characters move their lips out of sync with audio, rocks move for no reason, enemies jump in the middle of the air.
* Bad FPS: regardless of the settings, if you walk near a waterfall or open view, FPS drops to 10-15.
* The physical disc version includes only 60GB; the rest has to be downloaded for another whooping 130 GB. This game should come with a warning that downloads are massive.
Now, are the story and game mechanics ok? Yes, for the most part. The story so far is well written and engaging, design and concept art is beautiful, and voice acting is nice. Controls are not very responsive, can’t decide if this is because the performance is so bad that there is a substantial lag between input and response (or maybe I just suck at dodging).
If you haven’t bought the game, don’t buy it yet. Wait for a patch. Also hopefully companies stop selling half baked products - one would think Cyperpunk would have been a lesson for an industry but apparently not.
