Any chance of this being a good movie was ruined by the ending. Filmmakers need to stop promoting the idea that women lie about SA and abuse to get revenge, because this trope has the power to influence the real world, making it harder for actual survivors to come forward and get justice. We live in a misogynistic society that is quick to assume that any claims of abuse or SA are false and for a movie to further promote that idea (especially by claiming that the movie is based on true events) is incredibly irresponsible and careless. I’m not a filmmaker but I’m sure there are at least one or two other ways to tell a story that explores the consequences of this phenomenon in history without promoting dangerous stereotypes.
Also, including a scene that portrays the r*pe of a child is incredibly exploitive, even without any nudity or any graphic depictions.
