I’ve only read about half of this book so far and need to take a break from the darkness. Another reviewer has described the book as well researched and thought provoking, but the scenario itself as implausible. I agree with that assessment, i.e. two or three nuclear weapons launched by a rogue nation leading to worldwide nuclear catastrophe is unlikely and the cascade of events could have gotten interrupted at many points along the way. But here’s what I think: that first bomb going off was bad enough. I’ve read many horror novels and books on war, but I’ve never felt so… terrified? Doomed? I can’t even put it into words.
